Live symposia Web broadcasts bring a piece of the Annual Meeting to you [Aug 26 2010, 05:00]

You can participate in several annual meeting symposia without leaving home!

Three symposia scheduled for September 30, 2010 have been selected for a live Web broadcast from the McCormick Place Convention Center in Chicago. If you can't be there in person, then plan to participate via the webcast.

The following sessions will be available:

9:45 am-11:45 am (CDT)
Symposium on Mandibular Trauma
This session will provide current mandibular fracture management with specific approaches and potential for associated morbidity.

1:15 pm-3:15 pm (CDT)
Morbidity and Mortality Conference on Anesthesia
Closed case files will be reviewed for teaching experiences. A panel of practicing oral and maxillofacial surgeons will discuss the management of these cases and how other approaches may have yielded different results.

3:45 pm-5:45 pm (CDT)
Symposium on Oral Pathology CPC
Practicing oral maxillofacial surgeons are frequently asked to see patients with pathologic lesions for diagnosis and treatment. This session will discuss three common presentations of lesions. The diagnostic work up, histopathology, treatment strategies and modalities will be discussed.

2011 Annual Meeting Surgical Mini-Lecture and Clinic Speaker Applications Now Available [Jul 18 2010, 05:00]

You are invited to submit a speaker application for the Surgical Mini-Lecture and Clinic sessions to be held during the 2011 AAOMS Annual Meeting.

Surgical Clinics are ticketed, limited attendance sessions (25 attendees), two hours long, devoted to scientific or clinical content.

Surgical Mini-Lectures are ticketed, limited attendance sessions (100 attendees), two hours long, devoted to scientific or clinical content.

The deadline to submit an application is October 4, 2010 at 11:59pm. Applications and instructions are available online.

Accreditation needed for Medicare-covered ADI [Tue, 31 Jan 2012 00:00:00 CDT]

Washington—Suppliers of the technical component of advanced diagnostic imaging services for Medicare beneficiaries must be accredited to be reimbursed for the claim if the service is performed on or after Jan. 1, 2012. The accreditation requirement applies to suppliers of the images and not the physician's interpretation.

Sacramento, Calif.—Legislation approved by the state senate Jan. 26 would create a dentist-led Statewide Office of Oral Health within the state Department of Public Health charged with addressing the "significant human and financial costs" of unmet dental needs.

Report cites quality improvement efforts, opportunities [Thu, 26 Jan 2012 00:00:00 CDT]

Washington—Quality improvement efforts in organized dentistry and throughout the health care system offer opportunities to increase access to care and “improve and maintain the oral health of the U.S. population,” says a report funded by the W.K. Kellogg Foundation and DentaQuest Institute and intended to advance the national health policy dialogue.
